Cultivar: Qing Xin (green heart), some claim it's a Ruan Zhi, some that it's a different varietal. Other names are Zhong Zhai and Zhong Cha. [teapedia]

Season: Spring 2018
Oxidization: 30%
Tasting Notes: Bright, floral, sweet, oceanic

There is a reason that Alishan Oolong is famous (and expensive) and this tea is the best expression of it that we have ever found. Bright, floral, sweet, oceanic, and all the other descriptors used for Alishan Oolong can be found within these tightly rolled balls of leaf. The catch is that it is wildly expensive. Grown on the only organic farm in the Alishan area proper(that we know of), the farm can sell this tea for a lot of money, and justifiably so! It takes guts to grow organically in a place where conventionaly grown tea can be sold with an automatic 50% premium no matter the quality.

…This farm also supplies our Alishan Red Oolong

Region: Alishan, Nantou County, Taiwan

Alishan Township (Chinese: 阿里山鄉; pinyin: Ālǐshān Xiāng) is a mountain indigenous township in Chiayi County (bordering Nantou County in the northern mountainous areas), Taiwan. Alishan National Scenic Area covers most, but not all, of the township and also parts of neighboring townships. [wikipedia] (As this tea is listed as being in Nantou County, I believe that this farm is in the Alishan forest, but North of Chiayi in Nantou)

Elevation: 1,300 meters
